Ronda & Gibraltar
April 30, 2015
Now it is time to get serious. We had all our bikes packed up and were ready to go, but the 1200 GS and the 800 GS needed some new tires.
Again thanks to Agustin for connecting us with the tire shop. That was all done by 10 am and so we had a short 80 km ride to Algeciras, that we made into a 237 km instead of a 215 KM ride with a visit to Ronda and a wrong turn at Grazalema sending us to El Bosque instead of directly to Ubrique.
The drive up into the mountains to Ronda is very nice if a bit chilly at 3.5 degrees.
This town is teeming with tourists. We parked at the city hall lot, which is .90 E for 2 hours and in the end they did not charge us at all.
We had a snack on the square and then toured the old city including the famous bridge and bullring.
We arrived at the hotel in Algeciras about 5 pm and quickly changed to drive the 22 km west to the border at Gibraltar.
Crossing over was easy after just showing the passports.
We then parked and walked thru the pedestrian zone. Here we had some pints and gin and tonics at a traditional pub and then some great Indian food.
