We made good time and arrived in Bilbao before our 2 pm check in and so we headed downtown to see if we could connect with our friends that flew in from Athens this morning. We first met Petros on the Faroe Islands in 2015 and then again in 2016 when we made it to Greece. This is a beautiful city with the stunning Guggenheim Museum at its Center.

The weather forecast for today is looking a bit concerning. The first task today was to go to IMT to pick up the rental bike for Petros.  We then set out to ride to Burgos under very dark cloudy skies and with a severe wind warning. We did have about 25 min of very heavy rain, but then things in that respect got much better. The wind was not Patagonia strong, but it was pretty close and very gusty. We only planned for about 360 km, but after the heavy rain and the wind we decided to cut off the route to Burgos to 265 km by turning right out of the mountains towards the less ominous sky. We rented an apartment in the old city. This meant driving down the pedestrian streets and then into the elevators to access the parking garage !
